A Szirén hangja-Sirenia – voice of the Siren

Hónapokkal ezelőtt megígértük, hogy beszámolunk a Last.fm-en talált, számunkra friss zenekarokról. Az ígéret szép szó, tehát következzék egyik személyes kedvencem, a Sirenia

A Sirenia-t (eredeti nevén Masters of Sirenia) Morten Veland alapította 2001-ben, a Tristania-ból való kilépése után. Ezek után nem meglepő, hogy a két zenekar hangzásvilága, felépítése (hörgés, női énekhang, hegedűk, kórus) eléggé hasonló. A csapat szekere nehezen indult, hosszas keresés után sem találtak megfelelő énekesnőt. Az “At sixes and sevens” albumon éneklő Fabienne Gondamin-t Henriette Bordvik váltotta, azonban 2005-ben az “An Elixir for Existence” album után ő is elhagyta a csapatot. Az új énekesnő Monika Pedersen a Sinphonia nevű zenekarból érkezett, és ő énekel az utolsó Sirenia albumon, a Nine Destinies And A Downfall-on. Ezen az anyagon a gitárok mélyebbre hangoltak, azonban a hegedűk, a kórus, és a hörgés szinte teljesen eltűntek. A központban, a női énekhang, valamint a nagyon fülbemászó, dúdolható dallamok állnak. Engem valamiért az utolsó Theatre of Tragedy albumokra emlékeztet. 2007 novemberében Monika is elhagyta a csapatot, ami miatt több koncertet is le kellett mondaniuk, így a Therion előzenekaraként sem tudtak Budapesten fellépni.
Jelen pillanatban az együttes énekesnőt keres, tehát lányok, lehet demókat küldeni, hajrá!
Azt csak halkan jegyzem meg, hogy nagyon örülnék neki, ha Vibeke Stene (szintén Ex-Tristania tag) énekelne a csapat új albumán.

Thatre OF Tragedy Sirenia-My Mind’s Eye (Imádom ezt a dalt )

A few months ago we promised to tell you about the few (for us) fresh bands we encountered on last.fm. Promise is a nice word, and we try to keep it, so let’s introduce you one of my personal favourites: Sirenia.

The band (its original name was” Masters of Sirenia”) was founded by Morten Veland in 2001 after he had left Tristania. Keeping this in mind it is no surprise that the sound and the lineup of the two bands are quite similar (brutal male vocal, female vocal violins, choir). Finding their right lead singer was a hard task for the band. Fabienne Gondamin sang on the album “At sixes and sevens”. She was followed in 2005 by Henriette Bordovik (on the album “An Elixir for Existence”), but not long after the release she left the band too. The new singer, Monika Pedersen arriwed from the the band Sinphonia and can be heard on Sirenia’s last album, “Nine Destinies and a Downfall”. On this album, guitars are low-pitched, violins, choir and rattle are hardly to be heard (and it is so fresh and unique that i liked it immediately). Central role is taken up by the lead singer and the light melodies. Somehow it resembles to the last few albums of “Theatre of Tragedy”.

On november 2007 Monika too left the band (sad, very sad) and Sirenia had to cancel a few gigs, the one in Budapest with Therion among them (almost as sad as the first part. Or no! More sad!)

The band is looking for a singer, so girls its high time to send them your demos!

It would be a great pleasure (and a most unlikely scenario unfortunately) to see Vibeke Stene (ex Tristania) to sing on their next album
