Végre Delight!

(English version below) Elég régóta készülök erre posztra. Nem akartam elsietni, aztán közbejött ez meg az. Aztán valahogy nem vitt rá a lélek hogy nekikezdjek. . Na de most. Pedig ez a csapat lengyel, és a lengyeleket különösképp kedvelem. Nem csak azért, mert az iskolában elmondták, hogy “Lengyel magyar. két jó barát. együtt harcol, s issza borát.”, hanem mert a tapasztalatok is azt bizonyítják, hogy kedves, jóravaló emberek. És valamiért ők is ezt gondolják rólunk. Egyszer Brüsszelben dolgoztam, épp a sörfesztivál idején , és egyszer csak a harmadik vagy negyedik kisüveges, ám 10% feletti alkoholtartalommal bíró sör ivása közben a szomszéd asztaltól odajött egy lány, és megkért, hogy fotózzam le őket. Elkészült a kép, elkezdtünk beszélgetni, kiderült ők lengyelek, mi magyarok vagyunk. Lett is öröm, meg mosolygás, meg egymás nyelvének tanulása. És persze további italozás. Eme röpke, és teljesen felesleges bevezető után térjünk rá mai zenekarunkra a rég várt Delight-ra

A csapat 1998-ban alakult egy Krakkó melletti kisvárosban Skawinában, SATOR(!) néven. . Első albumukat a “Last Temptation”-t már Delight név alatt 2000 novemberében adták ki. Ekkorra megtörtént az első tagcsere is a bandán belül, Tomasz Polczyk (billentyűs) és Daniel Kaczmarczyk (dobok) helyére Basia Lasek és Tomasz Baran érkezett.

A 2001-es “The Fading tale” kedvező fogadtatásra talált Lengyelországon belül, és kívül egyaránt, amit 2002-ben az “Eternety” követett. Kedvenc albumomat az “A new”-t “Od nowa” néven szerencsére lengyelül is kiadták. A sok angol, német nyelvű zene után kész felüdülés néha meghallgatni. Eddigi utolsó (2007-es) Breking Ground című albumuk hozza a már megszokott minőséget, sőt! A lemez producere ugyanaz volt, aki a Fear Factory Obsolete albumán is dolgozott, ezt a dalok hangzásán még a magamfajta botfülű zenehallgató is észreveszi.

Mai kérdés: Mit jelent a lengyel “Sator” szó?

Így a videókat végignézve szerintem kijelenthetem, hogy ez lány nem csak jól énekel, hanem gyönyörű is! Remélem Budapestre is eljutnak egyszer!

I’m preparing for this post a for while now. First I didn’t want to write it hurriedly, and then came this and that more important. And after that i simply wasn’t in the right mood But now!

The band is Polish, and i pretty much like Polish people (me to. Once i spent a night among polish students (well, ok, it wasn’t just yesterday) who tried to make us (hungarians) drunk. I don’t remember much of that night, but we stood our ground fiercely!). Not only because i heard the saying “Polish and Hungarian, two good friends, together they fight, and so they drink wine”, but based on past experience, I can say, in general they are nice good folks. And somehow they think the same of us (or we hope so). Once I was working in Brussels, and it just happened to be in the time of a beer-festival , and after the third or fourth small bottle of strong Belgian ale, a girl came from the neighboring table asking me to take a photo of them. The photo was taken, and it came to light that they were Polish. There was happiness and wide smiles, and some basic language lessons And more beer.

And after this short (!) but totally useless intro, lets focus on our subject-of-the-post, the long awaited band, called Delight. (And now, for something completely different: Number 2… eh 1! The Larch (ok, to be honest, these are not my words)

The band was formed in 1998 in Skawina, a small town near Krakow (btw: Krakow is among the most beautiful cities of the world. If you can, visit it) and its name was SATOR(!). Their first albu, called “Last Temptation” was released on the november of 2000, already under the name Delight. The original lineup changed before the release, Tomasz Polczyk (keyboards) and Daniel Kaczmarczyk (drums) left, while  Basia Lasek and Tomasz Baran arrived.

Their next studio-release “The Fading Tale” was well appreciated both in Poland and in the rest of the world. It was followed by “Eternity” in 2002. The next was “A new”, and it was released with polish vocals as well “Od nowa”. It is quite refreshing, after listening to mainly english and german lyrics. On their latest album, “Breaking Ground” the members keep up the good work. The producer of this release was the same guy who worked on the album “Obsolete” of Fear Factory (let his name be mentioned here, he deserves it, he is Rhys Fulber, member of the Frontline Assembly, among others). His working on this album can be heard even to such untrained ears as my mines.

The question for today? What does the word “Sator” mean?

Well, imho, a few things left unsaid, or unwritten to be proper. First is that the band started as a female fronted gothic metal band, but now they are playing modern-metal, or modern-rock music. And the second is that their song “A Bare Tree” is a very-very-very beautiful song.
