• Ahogy Tarja ígérte egyben is letölthetővé tették a Warm Up koncert anyagát, de csak május 15 13:00-tól május 16 13:00-ig. Sajnos a hírlevélbe hiba csúszott, és nem a jó linket tették, be minek következtében 400kbit/s sebességgerl száguldott le a videó. A helyes link itt található.
• Simone újból csatlakozott az Epicához. A csapat gőzerővel készül a Miskolci operafesztiválra, remélem el tudok rá menni.
• A Sirenia megtalálta új énekesnőjét a spanyol Ailyn személyében.
• Egyre jobban várjuk a Therion PeCsa-ban felvett koncertjének DVD megjelenését, de sajnos csak rossz hírek érkeznek a zenekar háza tájáról. Christofer, Kristian, Johan és Petter útjai elváltak egymástól. Egyedül Christofer maradt a Therion tagja, a többiek saját, egyéni projektjeikkel foglalkoznak a jövőben.
• Már csak 4-et kell aludni, és Európában megjelenik a Moonspell legújabb albuma, a Night Eternal. Az anyag számomra hallgathatóbb, minta Finisterra volt, de nekem még mindig túl durva. Többször meg  kellene hallgatni.

A csapat 1998-ban alakult egy Krakkó melletti kisvárosban Skawinában, SATOR(!) néven. . Első albumukat a “Last Temptation”-t már Delight név alatt 2000 novemberében adták ki. Ekkorra megtörtént az első tagcsere is a bandán belül, Tomasz Polczyk (billentyűs) és Daniel Kaczmarczyk (dobok) helyére Basia Lasek és Tomasz Baran érkezett.

A 2001-es “The Fading tale” kedvező fogadtatásra talált Lengyelországon belül, és kívül egyaránt, amit 2002-ben az “Eternety” követett. Kedvenc albumomat az “A new”-t “Od nowa” néven szerencsére lengyelül is kiadták. A sok angol, német nyelvű zene után kész felüdülés néha meghallgatni. Eddigi utolsó (2007-es) Breking Ground című albumuk hozza a már megszokott minőséget, sőt! A lemez producere ugyanaz volt, aki a Fear Factory Obsolete albumán is dolgozott, ezt a dalok hangzásán még a magamfajta botfülű zenehallgató is észreveszi.

Így a videókat végignézve szerintem kijelenthetem, hogy ez lány nem csak jól énekel, hanem gyönyörű is! Remélem Budapestre is eljutnak egyszer!

I’m preparing for this post a for while now. First I didn’t want to write it hurriedly, and then came this and that more important. And after that i simply wasn’t in the right mood But now!

The band is Polish, and i pretty much like Polish people (me to. Once i spent a night among polish students (well, ok, it wasn’t just yesterday) who tried to make us (hungarians) drunk. I don’t remember much of that night, but we stood our ground fiercely!). Not only because i heard the saying “Polish and Hungarian, two good friends, together they fight, and so they drink wine”, but based on past experience, I can say, in general they are nice good folks. And somehow they think the same of us (or we hope so). Once I was working in Brussels, and it just happened to be in the time of a beer-festival , and after the third or fourth small bottle of strong Belgian ale, a girl came from the neighboring table asking me to take a photo of them. The photo was taken, and it came to light that they were Polish. There was happiness and wide smiles, and some basic language lessons And more beer.

And after this short (!) but totally useless intro, lets focus on our subject-of-the-post, the long awaited band, called Delight. (And now, for something completely different: Number 2… eh 1! The Larch (ok, to be honest, these are not my words)

The band was formed in 1998 in Skawina, a small town near Krakow (btw: Krakow is among the most beautiful cities of the world. If you can, visit it) and its name was SATOR(!). Their first albu, called “Last Temptation” was released on the november of 2000, already under the name Delight. The original lineup changed before the release, Tomasz Polczyk (keyboards) and Daniel Kaczmarczyk (drums) left, while  Basia Lasek and Tomasz Baran arrived.

Their next studio-release “The Fading Tale” was well appreciated both in Poland and in the rest of the world. It was followed by “Eternity” in 2002. The next was “A new”, and it was released with polish vocals as well “Od nowa”. It is quite refreshing, after listening to mainly english and german lyrics. On their latest album, “Breaking Ground” the members keep up the good work. The producer of this release was the same guy who worked on the album “Obsolete” of Fear Factory (let his name be mentioned here, he deserves it, he is Rhys Fulber, member of the Frontline Assembly, among others). His working on this album can be heard even to such untrained ears as my mines.

The question for today? What does the word “Sator” mean?

Well, imho, a few things left unsaid, or unwritten to be proper. First is that the band started as a female fronted gothic metal band, but now they are playing modern-metal, or modern-rock music. And the second is that their song “A Bare Tree” is a very-very-very beautiful song.

The Delight post delayes, because my englishvoice-good friend (Dani) is curing his translator muscles, and his knee with Becherovka. By way of introduction I have to say their polish album Od Nowa is perfect. Good to hear it after a numerous english song. But I don’t want to leave you without any videos.

The Epica has to cancel some gigs because of their beautiful singer’s illness. Simone is infected with MRSA, a hospital bacteria. We hope she get well soon, and we can see them in the opera festival in Miskolc, Hungary.

Elég rosszul indult a nap, a beígért AN-225 nem jött, hiába vártuk több százan a reptér déli sarkán a szitáló ködben. Hat, fél hét fele ígérték, gondoltam azt már nem várom meg, hisz hatra a Pecsába kellett mennem. Ivánnal beálltunk a meglepően hosszú sorba, Dani és Endréék előrelátóan késtek kicsit. Azért meglepően, mert az előző két alkalommal azonnal bejutottunk. Igaz akkor nem péntek volt, és egyik zenekar sem a populárisba hajló ágát játszotta a rock zenének. A második sorbanállás a ruhatár előtt már megszokott volt, sajnos a Pecsában elég kevés ruhatáros dolgozhat. Még nem adtuk le a kabátunkat, mikor az első előzenekar a húrok közé csapott, én pedig gondolkodóba estem. Ismerős volt a zene, nagyon is, azt is tudtam hol hallottam (PontFM a Bakelit sötét oldala című műsorában), de egyszerűen nem emlékeztem rá kik ők. Aztán beugrott: ők az Idea’s Bármily meglepő, de a csapat már tizennégy éves múltra, és a demókkal együtt 7 albumra tekinthet vissza.Kun Anita a csapat jelenlegi hangja 2005-ben csatlakozott, ezzel a stílus kicsit After Foreveresre változott, de ez cseppet sem baj. Sőt. . Az Idea’s és a Coronatus beállása közötti időt beszélgetéssel töltöttük, mikor a színpadon egy szőke nő jelent meg és egy gitárt helyezett el. Női road? És milyen csinos! Aztán kiderült, hogy a road nem road, hanem énekesnő, és a Coronatus egyik tagja. Szerintem a Nightwish, és a Gathering sikerének egyik rossz következménye, hogy a konzervatóriumot ilyen-olyan okkal otthagyott énekesnők metálzenekarokat alapítanak. Dani szerint a Coronatus az evolúció következő lépcsőfoka, egyből két énekesnővel támadja a gomba módra szaporodó konkurenciát. És nem is rosszul! A szinte csak refrénekből álló és gitárszólókat csak nyomokban tartalmazó zenéjük szinte egyből rabul ejtette a közönséget. A szőke (mellesleg várandós!!) hölgy nemcsak hogy jó hanggal rendelkezik, de bizony gitárszólót is adott elő. Miután elpakoltak maguk után (minden egyes tag megjelenését hatalmas ováció követte), szinte azonnal szinre lépett a Within Temptation. Az öt taggal (az egyik gitárosRobert Westerholt sajnos egy sérülés miatt nem volt jelen) színre lépő csapat az első pillanattól kezdve letaglózta a közönséget, egy másodpercre se engedték lankadni a figyelmet. A koncert javát az új album dalai adták, de sokunk örömére a régebbi albumokról is előadtak néhány dalt. A zenét a háttérre kivetített képek egészítették ki. Nagyon jó hangulatú koncert volt, örülök, hogy részt tudtam rajta venni. (Bár így a Delight post megint csúszik egy hetet) Apost elején említett repülő végül szombat délelőtt érkezett meg, szintén elég sokat vártunk, rá a zuhogó esőben. A reptér túlsó végén. The day started rather badly, the AN-225 that was promised to land did not show up, although a few hundred people (me among them) awaited her in the southern corner of the airfield. It was delayed until half to seven, bu I could not wait it, as I had to be in the Petőfi Hall by six.

Ivan and me started to stand the surprisingly long quewe, Endre and Dani were provident enought to be a bit late, and join us at the head of the quewe. We are not used to wait that much to enter to a gig, although i must admit, usually they are not on fridays and aren’t featured by too popular bands . The second quewe for the cloakroom was as usual (but waaaaay much longer), and while we were waiting for our jackets to be taken away the first band began to play. That made me think and wonder. Familiar, it vas very familiar, i even knew where i heard it (PontFM radio, ‘Dark side of the bakelite’ magazine), but I could not remember who they were. Then it popped up: the Idea’s! Surprising, but this band is eleven year old, and has seven records (with the demos). Their lead vocalist joined them in 2005, with her they style changed, it is a bit After Forever-like, but this is not a problem for me, not at all

After them we were chatting, while a blond woman put a guitar to the stage. A female road? And how pretty she is! In the end it turned out that she wasn’t a road but the lead vocalist of Coronatus, the second band of the evening! One of the bad effects of the success of Nightwish and The Gathering is that almost every woman who drops out of a conservatory founds a metal band . By Dani’s opinion, Coronatus stands for the next step of evolution of the female-fronted metal bands, as they are double-female-fronted-metal And they are good! Their music, what is easy to consume with lots of choruses and a few guitar-solos, was well appreciated. Even the lead vocalist (the blond female-road) played a solo (btw she is doing the tour while being pregnant).

After they finished (and carried their stuff down the stage by themselves, being applauded every time a member stepped to the stage) almost immediately came Within Temptation.

There were only five members on stage (Robert Westerholt (guitar) was absent due to an injury) but they soon made the crowd stunned. And there weren’t a second of easing. Most of the program consisted of the songs from the new album, but much to our delight, some older songs were performed as well. The music was backed up with images and videos projected to a backdrop.

It was a very elated concert, I’m glad to have been there (although this makes the Delight-post delay with one more week).

Oh, the above mentioned plane arrived saturday morning, late again, and in rain. And on the other end of the airfield.

A Sirenia-t (eredeti nevén Masters of Sirenia) Morten Veland alapította 2001-ben, a Tristania-ból való kilépése után. Ezek után nem meglepő, hogy a két zenekar hangzásvilága, felépítése (hörgés, női énekhang, hegedűk, kórus) eléggé hasonló. A csapat szekere nehezen indult, hosszas keresés után sem találtak megfelelő énekesnőt. Az “At sixes and sevens” albumon éneklő Fabienne Gondamin-t Henriette Bordvik váltotta, azonban 2005-ben az “An Elixir for Existence” album után ő is elhagyta a csapatot. Az új énekesnő Monika Pedersen a Sinphonia nevű zenekarból érkezett, és ő énekel az utolsó Sirenia albumon, a Nine Destinies And A Downfall-on. Ezen az anyagon a gitárok mélyebbre hangoltak, azonban a hegedűk, a kórus, és a hörgés szinte teljesen eltűntek. A központban, a női énekhang, valamint a nagyon fülbemászó, dúdolható dallamok állnak. Engem valamiért az utolsó Theatre of Tragedy albumokra emlékeztet. 2007 novemberében Monika is elhagyta a csapatot, ami miatt több koncertet is le kellett mondaniuk, így a Therion előzenekaraként sem tudtak Budapesten fellépni.
Jelen pillanatban az együttes énekesnőt keres, tehát lányok, lehet demókat küldeni, hajrá!
Azt csak halkan jegyzem meg, hogy nagyon örülnék neki, ha Vibeke Stene (szintén Ex-Tristania tag) énekelne a csapat új albumán.

Sirenia – Meridian

Thatre OF Tragedy Sirenia-My Mind’s Eye (Imádom ezt a dalt )

A few months ago we promised to tell you about the few (for us) fresh bands we encountered on last.fm. Promise is a nice word, and we try to keep it, so let’s introduce you one of my personal favourites: Sirenia.

The band (its original name was” Masters of Sirenia”) was founded by Morten Veland in 2001 after he had left Tristania. Keeping this in mind it is no surprise that the sound and the lineup of the two bands are quite similar (brutal male vocal, female vocal violins, choir). Finding their right lead singer was a hard task for the band. Fabienne Gondamin sang on the album “At sixes and sevens”. She was followed in 2005 by Henriette Bordovik (on the album “An Elixir for Existence”), but not long after the release she left the band too. The new singer, Monika Pedersen arriwed from the the band Sinphonia and can be heard on Sirenia’s last album, “Nine Destinies and a Downfall”. On this album, guitars are low-pitched, violins, choir and rattle are hardly to be heard (and it is so fresh and unique that i liked it immediately). Central role is taken up by the lead singer and the light melodies. Somehow it resembles to the last few albums of “Theatre of Tragedy”.

On november 2007 Monika too left the band (sad, very sad) and Sirenia had to cancel a few gigs, the one in Budapest with Therion among them (almost as sad as the first part. Or no! More sad!)

The band is looking for a singer, so girls its high time to send them your demos!

It would be a great pleasure (and a most unlikely scenario unfortunately) to see Vibeke Stene (ex Tristania) to sing on their next album

Ez az év is szerencsésen eltelt, és idén is rengeteg jó zenét hallgathattunk, ismerhettünk meg. Összeállítottunk egy listát az általunk legjobbnak ítéltekről. A lista ötösnek indult, majd tízes lett, de annyi jó albumot adott nekünk a 2007-es év, hogy ezt is kicsit kinőttük.

A 13. helyre került a Tristania utolsó Vibeke Stene-vel készült albuma, az Illumination. Nem rossz, de hallottunk mi már tőlük jobb dalokat is.

12. Serj Tankian első szólóalbuma, melyet simán kiadhatott volna System of a down néven is, az Elect the Dead.

11. Therion-Gothic Kabbalah. Első hallgatásra nem tetszett, számomra elég nehezen emészthető album, bár néhány nóta már akkor a fülembe mászott. A nagy áttörés a budapesti koncert volt, miután elkezdtem máshogy hallgatni, és azóta egyre jobban bejön.

10. After Forever-After Forever: A Decipher album óta bírom őket, követem, ahogy évről-évre változnak. Ez az új album azonban valahogy nem ugrik ki, szépen beillik a többi közé a sorba. Ez indokolja a 10. helyezést.

9. Nemesea-In Control: Sok új zenekart fedeztem fel magamnak az idén, közülük a Nemesea az egyik. Már elkezdtem egy posztot írni róluk, de az új albumról, mely teljesen más mint az előző, sajnos nem nem találtam elfogadható videót. Ami nem múlik, az késik. De reméljük nem sokat.

8. Sirenia – Nine Destinies and a downfall: Szintén friss felfedezés. Régebben Tristania szerű zenét játszottak, ez mostanra sajnos némileg megváltozott.

7. Delight- Breaking Control: Kellemes zene, persze női énekhanggal. És persze éljen a lengyel és magyar nép megbonthatatlan és örök barátsága!

6. Nightwish- Dark Passion Play: Az album amire annyit vártunk. Az album amit valaki a szívébe zárt, valaki gyűlöl. Nekem személy szerint tetszik. Csak nem szabad közben arra gondolnom, hogy Nightwish.

5. Amorphis- Silent Waters: Az eddigiekkel ellentétben az Amorphis régi kedvencem, és el kell ismernem az előző énekes eltávolítása, eltávozása már nagyon ráfért a csapatra. Az új hanggal ez már a második albumuk, amivel visszatértek valahová az Elegy és Tuonela albumok hangzásához.

4. Within Temptation- The heart of everything. Még egy kedvenc csapat, mely rossz irányba halad. Az új albumuk sajnos eléggé Evanescence hangulatú lett. Ettől függetlenül szeretem őket. Ha jönnek Budapestre, ott leszek a koncerten. (Jönnek!! )

3. Epica- The Divine Conspiracy: Egy Ex After Forever tag által alapított csapat mégis milyen lehetne? Lehetne akár rossz is, de ez nem az.

2. Tarja Turunen- My winter storm: Nagyon vártam mivel rukkol elő Turunen kisasszony a szakítás után. Csakúgy, mint a Therion esetén itt is kellett az élő koncert, és Tarja magával ragadó személyisége ahhoz, hogy megkedveljem ezt az albumot.

1. Agua De Annique- Air. Szubjektív listám első helyén Anneke új bandája foglal helyet. Megint csak ismételni tudom magam: ezért kár volt elhagyni addigi csapatát. Ez egy új Gathering album más néven. De nagyon kedvelem.

Boldog új évet kíván mindenkinek a Videoton kétfős csapata!

Yet again a year passed, and we were fortunate enough to listen good music all the way through it. We made a small compilation out of the bests of them. The list was intended to have only five members, but we were presented with so many good releases that even ten was not enough.

To the 13th place came the last album of Tristania featuring Vibeke Stene as vocalist, called Illumination. Not bad, but not their best.

The 12th is the solo album of Serj Tankian, what he could have released under the label System of a Down. This is the Elect the Dead. (my opinion differs in this. This album is weak for a SOAD release. I miss Daron Malakians guitar play and voice)

11. Therion – Gothic Kabbalah. After first listening, i wasn’t charmed too much. Pretty hard an album to digest, although there are quite a few remarkable songs on it. The breakthrough was the Therion gig in Budapest a few weeks ago, since then it has became better somehow. (still somewhat rough for me)

10. After Forever – After Forever: I like them since their ablum, Decipher, and keep an eye on their musical development from year to year. This album is not an outstanding one, but passes on the line of their releases.

9. Nemesea-In Control: I discovered quite a few bands last year, one of them was Nemesea. A post is being made on their new album which is totally different from their previous releases, but I was unable to find a decent video. What is late is not forgotten, the post will follow (once).

8. Sirenia – Nine Destinies and a downfall: Another fresh discovery. They used to play Tristania-like music (no wonder, as the band was founded by a former member of Tristania), but they changed their musical style, unfortunately (actually, i like their latest release the best, because it is quite unique.)

7. Delight- Breaking Control: Nice music, with a female voice, naturally . And long live the unbreakable and eternal friendship of the polish and hungarian people! (in my list, this album is in the top 5, although i only got to know them a month ago or soy. But the song “A bare tree” is one of the best songs of 2007 for me)

6. Nightwish- Dark Passion Play: The album that we waited for so much. The album that was praised and damned. I like it. I just don’t want to think that this is Nightwish. (i like it. New, fresh and good. And that’s all)

5. Amorphis- Silent Waters: Unlike the previous bands, Amorphis is an old favourite of me. I must admit that the departure of their previuos singer was a well waited event. It is their second album with their new voice, it’s music is somewhere between their Elegy and Tuonela albums.

4. Within Temptation- The heart of everything. Another of the favourites, but – in my view – they are heading to a wrong direction. This would be perfect for Evanescence, but from them we expected something more Within Temptation-like. But i like them and looking forward attending t their gig in a few weeks.

3. Epica- The Divine Conspiracy: A band founded by a former member of After Forever. What like could it be? It could be bad, but it is not

2. Tarja Turunen- My winter storm: I expected her solo comeback and was eager to hear what she would make. Like in the case of Therion, a live event and her charming personality was needed to make me like the album.

1. Agua De Annique- Air. The first on my list is Anneke with her new band. I again can only repeat myself. For this, it was unnecessary to leave her former ban. It is a The Gathering album under a different name. But it is very good!

A bordó pólós fiatalember az angolhangom (Dani), mögötte pedig az én fél arcom látható.

Teltek múltak az évek, koncertek jöttek-mentek, albumok is akadtak szép számmal, és az utolsó album kivételével mindegyik 10 pontot kapott a képzeletbeli 10 pontos skálámon. És ezzel elérkeztün az úr 2007. és a Therion 20. évéhez. Mikor megtudtuk, hogy hozzánk is ellátogatnak, nem volt kérdéses: ott a helyünk. Az előző Tarjás esetből okulva már eleve későn érkeztünk. Le is maradtunk az első néhány dalról. Elég bizarr színpadkép fogadott minket: két oldalt két leláncolt, szarvas és bika maszkos leányzó állt, a színpad hátterét egy templomot ábrázoló molinó adta, a billentyűs úgy nézett ki mint egy sátánista Tuck barát, az énekesnő mint egy(gyönyörű) nőstényördög, a két férfi énekes pedig mint egy-egy barbár. A zenekar többi tagja a megszokott formáját hozta, így legalább biztosak voltunk benne, hogy jó helyen járunk. A zenekar hatalmas színpadi showt mutatott be:volt lázadás, kalodába zárás, szívhez szóló szerelmi dráma, és még maga Pán is megjelent. A legnagyobb meglepetét számomra az okozta, mikor az énekes szünetet jelentett, be illetve azt, hogy a szünet után kedvenc albumomat (Theli) teljes egészében előadják!!! Nagyon jó volt a hangulat, néhány dalban a régi énekesek közül ketten is meg-megjelentek.

My first encounter with Therion happened accidentaly when on one day my brother gave me a borrowed cd. It belonged to one of his classmates, and thought that i will like it. And he was right. It was Deggial, and at first i listened it with some incomprehension. Later that incomprehension – if it was metal or opera or what – gave place to adoration. The first “personal” encounter happened in 2001 in Budapest, Petofi Hall. (The above picture was taken on that gig, and its peculiarity is that it can be found on the Therion web page ever since.)
The young man in that claret colored t-shirt is my english voice (Dani) (That is brown! And its peculiarity is that it can be found somewhere in my warderobe ever since. Ok, it no longer fits me, but life is like that, isn’t it?) Behind him, half of my face can be seen.

Years passed, so did gigs and releases, and with the exception of the last one, all the Therion albums got 10 on my imaginary 10 point scale.

And with that, we have arrived to the Lord’s 2007th and Therion’s 20th year. When we heard that they will give a gig here celebrating the occasion there were no arguments about whether we shall go or not.

Being edified by the Tarja gig we were a bit late, maybe a bit too late and missed the first few songs. The stage showed a rather bizarre image, with chained down ladies on both ends, wearing masks of a bull and a hind, a backdrop that imitated the interior of a temple, a keyboardist who looked like a satan worshiper friar Tuck, a  vocalist who looked like a beautiful female devil and male singers who looked like two barbarians (Actually, I think only one of them. The other one was quite well dressed). The other members looked like they usually do.

We were presented with a great show, including the singer’s locking into stocks, heart touching love drama, riot and Pan himself was there too (Have you forgotten the belly dancer! Where did you put your eyes? )

The biggest surprise for me was when the band took a break, saying that after that they would perform the whole Theli album!!

Former members (singers) stepped up too, and the atmosphere couldn’t be better. It was great.

The first video shows the song “Therise of Sodoma and Gomorrah” performed with a classical orchestra, while the second one shows it as it was performed on the gig. The fourth one is “The Birth of Venus Illegitima”, while the fourth is “The Wisdom and The Cage”.

And our question for today is: Messah Marcolin (a guest of the tour) were the singer of several bands. Name one of them.

Fülledt, meleg nyári nap volt, a vizsgaidőszak épp véget ért, én pedig kedvenc (és az időtájt Budapesten az egyetlen) rockzenét árusító boltomban álltam, hogy meglepjem magam valami jó cd-vel. Valamiért a Nightwish-Over the hills… albumára esett a választásom, pedig előtte nem hallottam tőlük semmit, annyit tudtam csak hogy az énekes hangja gyönyörű. A Határ út és a Köki között betettem az ütött-kopott discmanbe, és letaglózott amit hallottam. Az első pillanatban megkedveltem őket. Nemcsak Tarját, az egész csapatot. Teltek múltak az évek , és egyre gyűltek a Nightwish CD-k és DVD-k a polcomon, köztük több limitált kiadvány is, de ez egy másik post története…

A lényeg, hogy mikor az End Of an Era után megváltak énekesnőjüktől Tarja Turunentől, nem tudtam merre indulnak tovább. Azóta ez kiderült, és bár nehéz elfogadnom, de tényleg lezártak egy korszakot. Kíváncsian vártam mi lesz Tarjával, és nagyon megörültem, mikor meghallottam, hogy új albumot ad ki. Persze a megjelenés után nem sokkal hozzájutottam, és elsőre nem tetszett, amit hallottam. Másodjára sem. (Leszámítva persze a Reign című dalt. ) Danival, aki ezt a blogot fordítja, és az angol verziót telekommentezi dőlt betűkkel, elhatároztuk, hogy lesz ami lesz mi elmegyünk és megnézzük élőben.

Persze késtünk, és ahogy ez lenni szokott, mégsem maradtunk le semmiről. Az előzenekar a Gyöngyvér nevű magyar zenekar volt. Nem játszottak rosszul, de mindig mire el kezdett volna tetszeni egy dal, addigra véget ért.

Először furcsállottuk, (aztán később is) hogy két dobfelszerelés is volt a megszokott gitárokon, és szintetizátorokon kívül. Míg vártuk a kezdést, bábjátékkal, beszélgetéssel ütöttük el az időt. Aztán elindult a zene, és lehullt a lepel. A koncerten bár néhány régebbi dal is elhangzott, többnyire az új album számait adták elő. Ami meglepő volt, hogy míg a CD elég gyengén szólt, addig élőben szinte sütött a színpadról az őserő. Tarja hangja teljesen megigézett, még napokkal később is a hatása alatt álltam, állok. Ahogy az elején ígérte, volt opera, kis pop, és persze rock is. Tarja többször is átöltözött, ilyenkor a szüneteket az egyébként zseniális zenészek (ha minden igaz, akkor: basszgitár: Doug Wimbish; gitár: Alex Scholpp; dob: Mike Terrana; szintetizátor,ének: Maria Ilmoniemi; csello: Markus Hohti; gitárok, dob, ének: Toni Turunen – honnét ismerős ez a név vajon?) szólókkal töltötték fel, kicsit sem unatkoztunk. A koncert végén a művésznő, a gitáros, és a csellós srác még egy extra dallal örvendeztetett meg bennünket. Remélem kiadják a koncertet DVD-n is! A végén úgy búcsúztunk, jövőre veled, ugyanitt. (De inkább a jövő héten Therionon ugyanott!!!).

Mivel a budapesti koncertről nem készültek jó videók, ezért a német koncertről illesztünk be két klippet.

Kérdésünk: mi az az eszköz, amit általában nem szabad koncertre bevinni, most viszont megengedték?

It was a humid-hot summer day, i had just finished my exams, and was standing in my favorite (and that time, the only) metal music store to surprise myself with something. Somehow i have chosen the “Over the hills…” album (EP) from Nightwish, although i had never heard anything from them before. I only knew that their singer’s voice is beautiful. Between Határ street and Köki (abbreviation for Köbánya-Kispest train station) i loaded the disc to my battered player, and was immediately astonished (little later Zoli lent that disc to me. I think that this purchase was – for us – a beginning of an era). I liked them from the first moment. Not only Tarja, but the band as a whole.

Years passed, and Nightwish CD and DVD releases began to gather on my shelves, some of them rare pieces – but this is another story.

After their release “End of an Era” their parted from their singer, Tarja Turunen, and it was unknown where they would head. Since then matters cleared, and they really ended a period. It is just hard to accept. I was curious about what will happen to Tarja, and was happy hearing that eventually, she will release a solo album. Little after its coming out i obtained the disc, and at first, i was displeased. For the second time, i was displeased again, maybe with the exception of the song “Reign” (i did not make any exception with that song either. Tarja’s voice is beautiful, the sound is good, but there aren’t simply a good song on that album. Naturally, it’s a matter of taste). With Dani, who translates this blog and comments the english version with his opinion typed in italics (hey, that’s me! ) we decided that anyhow it is, we will go and watch her on stage.

We were late – as always – but have not missed anything – as always. (Why is it that most of the gigs is late about at least with an hour or so? It’s very annoying) First the hungarian band “Gyöngyvér” played (for our visitors who can’t understand our beautiful hungarian language, a little addition: the word Gyöngyvér is a female first name, and a quite lovely one. And it consists of the words ‘gyöngy’ and ‘vér’, which mean ‘pearl’ and ‘blood’). They performed well, but when i was beginning to like a song, it was over. (this happens when you listen to something for the first time. )

At first (and later too) it was curious that there were two drum sets apart from the usual guitars and keyboards. On the gig, mainly the Winterstorm album’s songs were performed, although there were a few Nightwish songs too. A good surprise was that while the songs on the album sounded weak, on the gig the power of the music was overwhelming. Tarja’s voice was hypnotizing i was and am under its effect since than. As was promised by her in the beginning, there was pop, rock and lots of opera. Tarja changed her outfit several times during the gig, meanwhile the outstanding musicians held the line with their solos. Btw the line-up: Doug Wimbish:bass; Alex Scholpp: guitar; Mike Terrana: drums; Maria Ilmoniemi: keyboards, vocals; Markus Hohti: chello; Toni Turunen: guitar, drums, vocals (his name is familiar somehow, isn’t it?)

Finally we were presented with an extra song, guitar, chello and Tarja only. I hope they make a concert-dvd out of this tour!

She leaved us with the promise: next year, same place, with you! I hope it will come true but until that: next week, same place, Therion gig!

(I look forward to the next Tarja gig. Not because of the music, i’ve listened “Winter storm” since the concert and it became no better, but for the experience. All the songs was much better performed live, and she has a charming personality. Above her beautiful voice she knows how to make contact with the audience, so that everybody feels she or he was addressed personally. It was the second gig in her tour and she seemed to be very grateful for having a large and enthusiastic audience. I want to be part of it next year as well.)
